What is the Library of Learning Profiles?
The library of learning profiles captures how local food system actors - such as farmers, extension agents, community leaders, etc. - learn, adapt, and engage with change. Using interviews to identify best practices and needs, these insights inform more collaborative, inclusive, and context-sensitive approaches to capacity strengthening and food systems transformation.
Why do we use this tool?
To better understand people’s real life context, aspirations, and ways of learning
To capture the diversity of learning styles, capacities, and entry points
To tailor capacity development and engagement strategies
To support the co-development of learning journeys & agency
To inform inclusive and adaptive training, communication, and innovation processes
When is it useful?
When implementing bottom-up food systems transformation projects including capacity building & training processes, collecting context-specific learning profiles can provide insights into what are best practices supporting learning in the stakeholders and actors involved/that the project is targeting in the process
How do we do this?
Conduct semi-structured interviews with local actors to explore learning stories, preferences, and needs
Create a safe space for interviews to capture authentic learning profiles
Analyse patterns and contrasts in learning styles and drivers of change
Synthesize findings into composite or individual profiles that inform design and decision making
